Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!

We celebrated Dr. Seuss's Birthday this week!  This included an assembly for Read Across America, special Books, Guest Readers, snacks and projects.

We sang together:  Count on Me!by Bruno Mars

20 teachers read a book together.  Each teacher read one page to the audience.
The book was; What Pet Should I Get!  By Dr. Seuss

We created two bulletin boards.
Miss Polly dressed up as Cat and the Hat and read Fox in Sox.  Then children created crazy socks using various shapes.  The Fox is checking out all the crazy socks in the hallway outside of our classroom. He also is looking at these COOL CATS!

In addition, Kari from the library Read
I Saw it on Mulberry Street.  Children drew a picture of something they saw on Mulberry street and completed a writing prompt. This work is on the bulletin board just inside our classroom.

Special Snacks!

We had green eggs and ham.  Then we did tally marks to see who liked the green eggs and ham.  Later, we created a cat's hat out of strawberries and banana's. We also read our Let's Find Out magazine. It's kind of like a news paper, and we learned about Dr. Seuss's Birthday!  We practiced listening for beginning sounds in words and for rhyming words.

First we put it together by making a pattern like The Cat's Hat!
Then we admired our creations!

 Then we ate them!

Poof, they were gone!
