It was a wonderful week.
We began with a trip to the Flynn Theater to see Sylvester and the Magic Pebble. When we returned everyone added to their opinion writing piece that shows their favorite part of the book and why and their favorite part of the Flynn show and why. I will share these with you at parent teacher conferences. We had our second school wide fire drill practice with all alarms sounding off. They were prepared and aware of the fire drill prior to the alarms going off. The children did a great job!
The children have been working on a community mural. Through the week they added places and things that they would see in a community. They also worked hard sounding out words to create labels for EVERYTHING in their community. Next, week they will add people they see in a community with labels. On Wednesday Mrs. Hazen and I mixed classrooms for a special project of decorating and discussing our "Story bit" project that got sent home on Thursday. In addition, we mixed classrooms on Thursday for math strategy groups where students were placed by skill level and worked with a teacher using various teaching methods to move children to their next level of skill in mathematics. We ended our week with a "Kindergarten Round UP". All the kindergarten classes got together for a sing-a-long and group dancing. It was a lot of fun!
I hope you all have a wonderful fall weekend!
Here are some photos to enjoy...
Once I have all the permission slips in you will see student photos too.
